Support over the Holidays

The Chaplaincy has a wide team of honorary chaplains and belief contacts, encompassing all faiths and none. Many of these contacts will be hosting services throughout the holidays which all students are very welcome to attend, regardless of faith or denomination. We’ve put together some of our favourite things to see and do over the festive period- please feel free to share your own suggestions!

Festive Food and Drink

Edinburgh’s Christmas markets are the perfect place to sample food from around the world as well as local produce. Make sure you try some of our festive favourites!

  • Mince pies, shortbread, black bun, clootie dumpling, stovies.
  • Gingerbread, fruit cakes, Christmas Cake.
  • Mulled wine, cider or apple juice.

Edinburgh Hogmanay

Hogmanay

Hogamany is the Scottish word for New Year’s Eve and the surrounding celebrations. It’s a great time of year to make the most of what Edinburgh has to offer! Join participants from around the world in a Torchlight Procession. Perfect your ceilidh dance moves at the FREE National Museum ceilidh or join the world-famous Edinburgh Street Party.
