New Students: International Day & Welcome Week 2017

In just a few short weeks you will be here in Edinburgh preparing to start your chosen programme. Here’s an introduction to the events we have in store for Welcome Week – we’re sure this will be a great start to your time with us!

International Day: Sunday 10 September, 10:00 to 16:00 at McEwan Hall

International Day is a special day for our new international students.

You will get plenty of help and advice about starting off in a new country, including sessions about academic culture in the UK, managing your money, Scottish culture, and getting involved with student activity on campus. You will also hear about what things are important to do in your first week, how you can get help, and you can visit representatives from the many services we have at the University to find out what they offer.

Students’ Association Activities

Not only will you meet with the people who are here to support you through your studies, during Welcome Week you will also be able to attend a whole range of social activities, where you can make new friends. Our Student Societies will be there on International Day, so it’s an ideal time to meet them and get involved in anything from the Harry Potter Society to the Swahili Club! Finish the day by trying your hand at some traditional dancing at the Ceilidh in the Teviot Debating Hall.

We always find that students who attend International Day and Welcome Week settle into their studies and their new home much quicker than students who don’t, so we recommend that you take full advantage of this eventful day.

THE BEST OF THE REST

Airport Welcome

Our Airport Welcome will take place at Edinburgh Airport from Friday 08 to Sunday 10 September, 8am to 10pm. Our student ambassadors will meet you and help you find your way to your accommodation.

If you arrive outside the official arrival period, it is still very easy to find your own way to your accommodation. For more information see our Transport in Edinburgh page.
